Process engineering may very well be the most important part of getting quality parts from the injection molding process. You can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on injection molds and still produce sub par quality parts from it if you don't have the proper insight as to what it takes to fill, pack and hold the plastic in the mold. I've seen beautiful parts from molds you would think should have been taken to the mold graveyard years ago because the Process Engineer really knew what he was doing. The inverse is true as well, molds that were built with the utmost attention to detail and quality may not produce a quality part if the process engineer does not have the proper training and or experience to "dial" it in.
Process engineerring for a long time was considered a "black art" as if it were some mysterious blend of man and machine that only those who had the "gift" could master. We know today that like many things in science there is a reason for everything and therefore the scientific approach to process engineering for injection molding is the only way to be succesful long term. This approach allows for larger windows of opportunnity to produce high quality plastic parts while keping the cycle as short as is possible. Shorter cycle times equate to lower costs. You will have also drastically reduced the chances of producing scrap.

Phase Two: Systematic Molding I
Phase Three: Master Molder I
Phease Four: Master Molder II
Upon completion of phase four you are certified and now can take the "Train The Trainer" course which will allow you to teach other team members phases one though four.
